All enquiries and application forms are kept on file and a note is made on specific requirements (shared studio, large space, small space, etc), in case one becomes available.
We encourage participation and collaboration wherever possible. Blank is run entirely by its artists (with the exception of our cleaner, there are no staff at present). Regular studio meetings are held every month and attendance is vital for the development of the many opportunities that arise at Blank all the time.
To apply for a space at Blank, you need to be a practising contemporary artist. We encourage diversity, and are pleased to accept applications from all individuals, regardless of the specific form your work takes (whether that's visual, performance, sound, design, craft and so on). We also accept applications from groups and collectives. You'll need to provide a deposit equivalent to 2 months rent. Rent is paid monthly, in advance, by standing order.
Yes - from hanging exhibitions and painting walls to doing mail-outs, there are all sorts of ways you can help. In return, you'll get to be part of an exciting and vibrant young arts organisation. You'll also get inside information regarding all the new opportunities that come up at Blank; available studio space, exhibitions, exchanges, residencies, talks etc. To volunteer, simply download the VOLUNTEERING INFORMATION FORM, fill it out and return it to us.
